|Description:||Audio narration of the radio drama War of the Worlds by H. G. Wells.|
A snippet from the audio of the H. G. Wells radio drama War of the Worlds, narrated by Orson Wells. The War of the Worlds is an episode of the American radio drama anthology series The Mercury Theatre on the Air. It was performed as a Halloween episode of the series on October 30, 1938, and aired over the Columbia Broadcasting System radio network. It was directed and narrated by actor and future filmmaker Orson Welles. The piece is a powerful example of how radio changed the face of mass media in the early 20th century.
